London Voluntary Service Council

The London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC) aims to strengthen voluntary organisations by providing services and a strong voice on policy issues that affect Londoners. It supports voluntary organisations to work within the complexity of social policy in London and ensures that the views of marginalized groups are represented. LVSC targets second-tier organisations (organisations that provide services to other organisations rather than to individuals), groups which can't get help from a second-tier organisation of their own, black and minority ethnic groups, and other groups that experience discrimination.

LVSC provides a range of services which include:
Up-to-date information on management and funding
A library and information service
Practical publications
Short courses on organisational development and generic management skills
A co-ordinated voice to influence policy makers
Fast and accurate interpretation of policy developments
Opportunities to learn and share best practice
Access to a range of networks
www.actionlink.org.uk the information reference which makes the connections you need in the voluntary and community sectors
Expert support and advice on employment related issues.

The South London CVS Partnership and its members has worked with LVSC on a range of issues including, being a member of the steering group for the London CVS Network, participating in the health & social care network, second tier advisors network, responding to policy consultations and receiving support and advice from LVSC staff. LVSC have been asked to coordinate the development of the London Infrastructure Development Plan for ChangeUp and our Partnership will be participating fully in this to ensure the needs of the VCS in south London are included in the Plan.
