Sustaining Community Learning
Target group: All Voluntary & Community groups across south London. Focusing, in particular, on VCS organisations that are currently delivering or wish to develop the capacity to deliver accredited & non-accredited learning in the south London area.
Project start date: July 2005 – June 2007
Aim: To develop a sustainable infrastructure for accessing funding for voluntary and community sector learning providers across south London. Establishing a voluntary and community sector provider consortium through which the sector can access learning and Skills Council and other funding to deliver training and learning opportunities to some of the most excluded individuals in society and the staff who work with them.
The consortium has established a steering group/Shadow Board consisting of providers, funders and Colleges. It has agreed a draft vision, mission and set of strategic aims for the consortium:
Vision: To support and promote the economic, social and educational prosperity of south London through community learning.
Mission: To develop a representative strategic learning consortium that is rooted in south London's communities and which provides quality learning opportunities through voluntary and community provider partnership.
