Kingston Voluntary Action

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is one of the smallest London boroughs and is often perceived as just being a wealthy area, but it is characterised by pockets of deprivation.  Kingston Voluntary Action’s mission is to lead on community engagement, creating opportunities for organisations and individuals to become empowered to reach their full potential so they make a difference in their communities, particularly those that are disadvantaged.

As well as the core work of a Council for Voluntary Service, Kingston Voluntary Action (KVA) has been instrumental in a number of key projects across South London, perhaps most notably being Superhighways, an ICT project that supports voluntary and community organisations to get the most from information and communication technologies.  KVA is also home to Kingston Volunteer Centre and Kingston Community Furniture, a community recycling project.

KVA has positively embraced the opportunities created by the South London CVS Partnership and worked hard to ensure that the strategies developed collectively mean something to the voluntary groups and the people of Kingston-upon-Thames.
